This past day have had a fair few interesting moments. Last night, just
after dinner we were lucky enough to spy a pod of sperm whales coming up to
breathe with a couple showing their tail flukes as the dove back down. I’ve
never seen sperm whales before.
The crumble we had for dessert last night was very good and we’ve got some
left over for supper today as well.
Last night we had an especially clear sky with great views of the milky
way, with satellites and shooting stars seen aplenty.
The wind on the other had has not been quite so fine. It is still there
which is a big relief, however it is very light and of variable direction,
making keeping a steady course quite the challenge, and making our progress
rather slower than we would like.
We have had a running joke all cruise that we need to keep a good watch in
case the QM2 should come up on us unawares. It amused us greatly therefore when
not half an hour ago, what should we see but the QM2 steaming up behind us. We
had a nice chat with their officer of the watch over the radio and have taken
some pictures of their new paint job to send to them when we get a better
internet connection. The bread for lunch was a little singed as a result of our
attention being elsewhere, but on the whole a nice (but hot) morning.
