Slowressing towards Niue still 420nm to
go.Frustrating day (as expected) with v. light and variable wind. Currently
motoring without the headsail so it doesn't flog around and slow us
down.
On the bright side we caught a large yellow fin
tuna. We had been trawling all day with tuna umping out of the water after
flying fish. Josh changed the lure on the hand line and within 1/2 an hour we
had the tuna. While filleting this one the rod went off and a big mahi mahi took
off and pealed 200-300m of line before we could slow him down. It was easy to
slow the yacht - furl the headsail - and the fish was slowly reeed in. Got it
right to the back of the yacht so we could see how big it was and it looked
bigger than the last one we caught when it threw the lure and was off. Happy for
the fish because the fridge is full!
