Tuesday Aug 8th 1500hrs local time. (0200hrs UTC
Aug 9)
A little earlier than usual today. Getting buffeted
by 20-25kt winds beam on. The headsail is wound 3/4 in to make life more
comfortable, and to slow us down. For a change we want to go slower so we can
arrive at Nuku'alofa in daylight hours as getting in in the dark can be a
problem negotiating some of the reefs - even with good GPS and plotter I still
worry.
We will have a bit of time off in Nuku'alofa
while we repair the boom and arrange a good send off for Josh and Gerrard.
I think we have cured Josh of ocean sailing.
There is an Australian High Commission, so we may
yet get to cast a vote in the forth comming elections, but we have no idea about
what is happening aat home. Almost total blank for almost 4 months!
100nm to Nuku'alofa. 16hrs at our current pace
which is perfect. Normally we would like to do this in 12
hrs.
