Well, after nearyl 3 weeks we have finally left
Dampier, and not a moment too soon. After being away from FKv for 17 days she
was filthy with a coating of red dust. Scrubbing with deck brushes helped but it
will take a lot of fresh water and detergent to bring her back to her sparkling
white, All the halyards and rigging will also need a good clean.
We welcome nephew Craig on board along with Paul
from Geraldton.
Progress is slow pushing into a 15-18kt westerly
witout sails up as we head west towards Mermaid Strait. It is all a bit narrow
and shallow to sail iacking into the wind. Another 4 hours should see us bear
away to the southwest and we may then be able to hoist some sail.
640nm direct to
Geraldton.
