Motor sailed the 7 miles over to Sopers Hole and spent a pleasant couple of hours with the immigration and customs officials. Turned out to be one of the more bizarre experiences we have had yet. Lady behind the counter enquired what we were doing about the education of our kids. S and I replied that we were home schooling them. Can I see your documentation proving that you have permission to do that?
we don't have anything like that - but we could show you their journals. anyway it is summer break at home and school doesn't go back until this week.
Well she says it is not a school holiday period here so you will need to prove to me that it is Ok with the school for your kids to be away.
Well we don't have a certificate but might be able to find an email or two about it from their principals.
Well go and get that and when you bring it back I can release your passports.
fortunately we were able to print off some email from Jamie's principal that satisfied her.
Staggered along to the Jolly Roger bar for lunch at 3pm then back to the boat to clean up in preparation for the arrival of our guests.
Pleased to report that we now have 4 passengers aboard Aurelia, all tucked up in their beds having had a big day getting here. Their ferry was 20 minutes early and we hadn't quite finished getting ready! We had a mooring buoy just beside where the ferry came in and they had no trouble spotting us. I was passing the open gang way and heard their voices on the back of the ferry and popped up to see them. The kids raced up to wave, and then Mike arrived with the loud hooter and the whole bay knew they had arrived!
Went ashore and collected them and have been talking solidly since then! They all look in good shape. Chris has taken a shine to Lauren of course, he loves cute girls!
