Just as the crew were settling in to a relaxing
shore life in Baiona, skipper John (aka Captain Bligh) had us on the high seas
once again en route to Povoa. Great weather (sunshine at last) and a downwind
sail, our first since crossing Lyme Bay, but more of that from the skipper
later. Despite the weather there was no pleasing Laura who moaned the sail was
blocking out the sun! The Northerly wind also meant it was more fleece than
bikini weather so no all over tan today. We literally 'surfed' in to Povoa around
4pm and had a seriously windy berthing in the marina here. The marina staff are
very friendly and speak pretty good English. The only downside so far is the
foghorn on the end of the breakwater which appears to sound at the merest hint
of a sea mist (even in sunshine) - the lady in the marina here described it as
'crazy'! We agreed with her especially at around 1am this morning when we were
asleep! (emphasis on past tense at this point!)
Having landed safely yesterday, we enjoyed a beer
(or three in the case of JR) and we hit the town looking for somewhere
to have a meal. I'm not sure we saw the best bits last night so opinion reserved
on that one until a later blog. Our meal out could have been
better!!
We have just heard that Libertad are on their way
here from Baiona and we have brother in law, Andrew and Tom joining
us around lunchtime today so hopefully
tonight will be a good one.
