Your skipper and sometimes correspondent has been in Las Palmas since last Monday on his own. His mission to prepare Ula for the Atlantic trip, check in with ARC control, undergo a safety check and rig check and attend as many lectures as possible about what could go wrong in mid Atlantic. Many boats are waiting for crew to turn up this weekend but the parties have already started for those with the energy to stay the pace. Ula has passed all her checks with a few minor things to do  and attention is now turning to stocking up with enough food for 3 weeks for 6 people and a bit left over just in case....

Ula is on Pontoon 16 if you want to visit and the buzz aroung the boats is beginning to build as expectations rise. Last night was the official opening party which your correspondent attended with Bob from Libertad and crews from boats around. Following this I was off back to the boat for an early night, but unfortunately was waylayed as I passed the sailors bar by the crew of the boat opposite Ula. So it was well past midnight when we left to be greeted by yet another party on the Pontoon. As sleep was obviously going to be difficult due to the reverie, I thought I may as well join them. A little  time later, can't quite remember when, I finally got to bed.

Jackie arrives today and then the rest of the crew over the next two days. Its going to be a busy week!

Cheers John
