Another action packed day on Shelena. All started quietly with news from
Selden/Oyster of a means to make an adjustment to the foil on our genoa
furler that had come out of its housing. Not a structural problem at present
but we needed to monitor closely. In any event the advice received was
brilliant and an hour or so later and we had repositioned the genoa foil in
its housing and locked it in place with the engineered locking bolt.
Excellent! That success was followed with news that we completed a third day
in the one nineties miles sailed in 24 hours with 198Nm. We had then clocked
up 1221 Nm. We have also passed the half way point between Sao Vicente and
St Lucia which we considered to be when we reached longitude 43 degrees. So
you know where all this is leading? It's time for tradition to be observed
and champagne hit the spot perfectly.

As the afternoon wore on I wanted a nap. No sooner eyes shut and I hear my
name shouted. Oh dear the genoa sheet has snapped cleanly and the genoa is
flogging. We rescued the situation pretty well and re-tied the broken genoa
sheet to continue at an excellent pace. The winds are kind to Shelena.

If all that was not enough we experienced our first squall. IT was mid
-morning and so we reefed the main then waited for the winds to veer and for
the wind to increase and the rain to fall. All very exhilarating as winds
doubled to a peak of about 34 knots. The yacht speed was fast at around 10
knots which is top speed with increases only experienced by surfing the
swell.

That's it for now folks. Time to sleep.

All is well with all on the good ship Shelena!
