One of the biggest issues at sea for prolonged periods is chafe to the
various sheets. Today we start the day knowing that our genoa sheet has
chafe at the pole. We will change tack to rest the sheet and cut the damaged
part out. What we do not want is any sheet or halyard failing; especially in
the middle of the night.

Looking at our chart plotter we have no idea where we are relative to other
yachts. Our AIS system only targets yachts in arrange of about 25Nm. I know
from looking at the Tracker on line all boats look on top of each other, but
at sea the horizon is only up to 6 miles so we see very little. We did see a
tanker bound for Brazil at about 3 miles distant art sunset. That is all we
have seen!

Aboard Shelena all is well. Sleep patterns are coming together and we have a
3 hour watch system from 2000 - 0800. Last night the order was Helen, David,
me then Petri. During the day things are more informal. We may well swap
that watch order in a few days.

That is all for now. Breakfast beckons and I need to download our daily text
weather report from ARC Control and the grib file for Maxsea our routing
software.
