Hi there.

As you can see we have arrived in Providencia. This is another Columbian island off the coast of Nicaragua. Whereas San Andreas was a holiday destination and quite flat, Providencia is quieter, mountainous and very scenic. (See Pic 1).

The island is lovely and the people are very friendly…. Probably because it is off the normal tourist routes. Providencia was once a British colony before it was acquired by Columbia. So most people here speak English and Spanish.

Like at San Andreas, we are the 1st rally to have ever visited this island and seem to have created quite a stir. We had a welcome party once again, thrown by the local tourist ministry, with speeches and local dancing. (See Pic 2)

Afterwards, we headed out to one of the big catamarans that are on the rally for another get-together. The crew had caught a big mahimahi and were very generous in inviting several crews around to share some home made ceviche …. And several drinks. (Pic 3)

We will be staying here for about a week before we have to start the rather long sail round Nicaragua and Honduras towards Roatan, which is our next long stop.

Will send an update just before we leave here.

Best Wishes,
