Well, we have finally dragged ourselves away from Antigua and got out the sailing manual in case we have forgotten how to sail. We have been here for over 6 weeks now so it is definitely time to leave.

Our sail down was quite fast and a little boisterous as the winds are quite strong right now. Just as we were approaching the coast we were hit by a squall. We saw it coming so had plenty of time to take lots of sail in, but we received a soaking in the process.

We have now arrived on the French island of Guadeloupe and have cleared in (Customs and Immigration stuff) at the small town of Deshaies on the NW coast. This was fairly straightforward as we are now officially back in the EU.

First impressions are that it is very French. Not much English spoken (and my French now is very rusty). On the other hand we can finally get some decent coffee and bread.

We will probably head down to the Saints Islands, in a day or so as we are told they are very nice, and then head up to the main town of PdP.

Will update this blog as we go along.

Bye for now,
