An early departure from Simpson Bay led to a pleasant 62 mile sail back to St.Kitts. There was a bit too much south in the wind to lay the southern end of St. Kitts as originally intended so we bore away and had a nice fetch to the north end. Of course the wind died once we got to the west side of the island and we motor sailed the rest of the way to Whitehouse Bay at the southern end. In my determination to anchor close to Salt Plage, the lovely beach bar, I just couldn’t get a good position between other anchored yachts and moorings even though there was plenty of room! Ended up dropping the hook three times before getting it right which is not like me! We had a sundowner on Safena and then made our way to the wonderful Salt Plage. We sat on the jetty that extends out into the sea. We had another fantastic meal! Love this place! Another early start for the final passage back to Antigua. The forecast was SE 11 kts. This did not really materialise. It was mainly east and mostly less than 10kts. So our final passage was a 50 mile motor sail which was rather frustrating. Arrived at Jolly Harbour and anchored just outside the entrance channel and well in time for sundowners. The water here is beautiful and near ceases to please. Went ashore for a pizza at Akropolis. We had a couple of nights at anchor here and wonderful lazy days in the sun before preparing Safena for entry into the marina. David (Junior HM) kindly helped us into the berth between the dreaded telegraph poles but it all went very well. Fortunately the wind dropped as we entered which was a bit of luck. The wind is forecast to become strong again over the next couple of days so glad we are here tucked up safe and sound again. We managed a stroll along beautiful Jolly Beach finishing with a great painkiller at Sandra’s. Happy hours at West Point marina bar are always fun. Will be slowly getting ready to return to UK for a month before the next trip! Our final dinner was at Miracles. We both had lobster. Mine was curried which is my absolute favourite here! Simon |
