Friday 10th June. Anchor down at 16:30

The intention was to head straight for Dunk Island but the forecast was wrong again and we got fed up being beaten up by the waves so changed course and came in to Orpheus Island for the night.

So anyway, we got everything done in the Whitsundays on Wednesday. Tummy full of oysters and the odd orchid. We were supposed to leave at 05:00 on Thursday to catch the tide but unfortunately my Thai alarm clock didn't work and we woke up at 07:00. She must need new batteries or may be just plain old and needs changing out for a newer model. We still managed to have enough current to push us through the Whitsunday passage and had a fantastic sail for the rest of the day. Managed to catch 3 spotted mackerel, two at the same time. Wind and waves came up during the evening and we landed up gybing north between the barrier reef and the coast. A very confused sea, not to mention the sailors, so by 10:00 this morning decided to call it quits and head to sheltered waters for a decent nights sleep at an anchorage. So here we are.

May try to head through the inland river that separates Hinchinbrook Island from the mainland and then try for Dunk Island for an anchorage tomorrow night but the weather is due to increase even more and the inland route is very shallow for us. Will decide in the morning.

Off for a V&T and some grilled fish!!
