Yesterday was fantastic sailing, doing up to 9.2 knots, which may not sound a lot if you drive a Ferrari or a Vende Globe open 60 but  for a 47’ house with sails, that is so loaded down with fuel, water, food, and a beer or two, that the plimsoll line is no longer visible unless you have a mask and snorkel, it is really fast!

The bad side is that the boat we left on the horizon behind us on Sunday appeared ahead of us at about 17:00 yesterday. In the whole of the Pacific Ocean we landed up passing each other within 300 meters.

Last night the wind died and the sails came down and engine on for about 8 hours. This morning we started at 03:00 with putting up the code zero. Down it came at 03:45, wind died again. Since then we have had 5 sail changes and it is only 09:30. It is going to be a grueler today I think.

We had a visit from a bunch of dolphins yesterday afternoon. They were jumping out of the water front ways, backwards and doing flips. What a boost.

We passed what looked like two long line fishing ships which is bad news for almost any fish in the ocean. We have started passing rubbish on a large scale. No idea where it is from but is dishartening to see so much of it so far out at sea. Plastic bottles, bags and styrofoam cups make up the majority.
