Liz sent me an email pointing out that it may not be politically or morally correct, and potentially against the law, to pick wild orchids in the Whitsundays, which are 95% National park. The area we are going to is in fact part of the remaining 5% set aside for housing development / high density tourism / resort proliferation. The orchids grow naturally on shoreline rocks and they are in magnificent abundance. We intend taking two cuttings / buds and growing them in Thailand and will leave only footprints in the sand. The natural order of things will remain in the Whitsundays.....hordes of tourists, international flights, jet boats, jet skis, charter operators, helicopter tours, high speed ferries etc etc
