Position at 16:00 on the 22nd July, I thought.
Actually the longitude reading is now East instead of West so we have crossed
the date line and it is now the 23rd. Not a big deal unless it is your birthday,
which it is!!! my birthday is nearly over!! can't believe it of all the days to
cross the date line.
Anyway we are at anchor off an island in Fiji
called Taveuni. We have been told by every guide book on the planet never to
stop anywhere in Fiji until you have cleared in but we are knackered, the boat
has no auto pilot, it is getting dark and will be night time before we get to
the check in port, the wind is blowing 25 to 30 and there is no moon so here we
are and it is fantastic. Hammock out and beer in hand, completely sheltered from
the wind and not another boat in sight.
We will travel the remaining 38 miles to Savu Savu
tomorrow. 647 miles completed.
