2014 on Pelekan never hit the blog. This was not because we abandoned the boat - but I was too inept to supply any information. In fact we had quite an adventurous time visiting Dominica, St Martin, Montserrat, Guadeloupe, Antigua and the BVI so the map is lacking multiple journeys.
As it turns out in terms of the boat and its functionality it is a bit like the 9 years I spent on our local Parish council. The same recurring theme of overgrown footpaths and inability of the dogs to read the signs telling them to scoop up after themselves came up with monotony every year, (and indeed decades looking through old minutes) so too the saga of boat annoyances is repetitive. There is, however, much more of a thrill with the boat - the excitement of not knowing how much it will cost to fix. Last year, among other things, was a new generator. It is still too early to tell what awaits this year....
Nanny Cay is as beautiful as ever, bristling with boats at the start of the new season. Our plan is to make ready to cruise a little around the BVI and, if most bits and bobs are "working" - for Tom the sails, for me the fridge and generator, we will head for Antigua, possibly via several islands depending on the ferocity of the trades.
Must go now and feed the captain.
