Batting along at a great rate after 14 hrs+ with the engine and no wind. Now on port tack for the first time. Discovering badly stowed items as they zoom past our left ears. The position of Tom and my bed means the feet will be much lower than the head so presumably with a lurch I'll shoot out of the bottom - like a burial at sea ( Tom sleeps in the saloon with lee cloths).

We were beginning to think ocean life had ceased, apart from the Portugese men of war. This morning two dolphin launched themselves at the boat for a play with the bow waves and then, at lunchtime, we spotted a whale lumbering by.It's amazing how little things please little sailors minds. James was ecstatic, Chris was sad that his camera was not handy, Tom's voice went up an octave and I needed smelling salts.

Hoping our strategy to miss the foul weather north us has worked. In theory we might be in "texting" range by Friday evening.

We can't wait to get more news of the government, if indeed there is one.
Love from the naturalists ( not naturists) aboard Pelekan xxx
