Happy New Year!
You might have noticed that the boat's position has not altered since the last update. This is not because we have been sailing the high seas and come back to the same spot. We are still at anchor in Freemans Bay - waiting for an engine starter battery. At times there have been near misses with sense of humour failure, and at others near misses with boats who have dared to anchor too close to us, but all in all we have enjoyed English harbour and made friends with other "boaties" and members of Tom's new club - The Royal Naval Tot Club of Antigua and Barbuda.

Christmas day was spent in the harbour, soaking up the atmosphere with wonderful steel bands, champagne and a magnificent Christmas lunch at the Hot Spot Cafe. It was such a successful combination that we repeated it yesterday for New Year's Eve.

The battery saga, we hope, is nearing a conclusion. It has arrived on the island. Tom had filled out many forms with boat details but his signature ( an illegible scribble), was not considered consistent........ We believe the battery was delivered to the harbour store late on Friday, but we were not able to pick it up before closing time, the start of a Bank holiday weekend. So near and yet so far.

The plan is to wander off for a few days when we can finally move. The anchor chain is now decorated with weed and crustaceans so may not want to be pulled in at all.

May 2012 be a good year.
Love and best wishes Tom and Jos
