Went fishing........ on the 2nd on our way to Virgin Gorda. Tom and I are a losing combination. For the first time ever we actually managed to land a fish- two to be precise. Tom was hugely excited and thought we had a 4lb King Mackerel and a 5 lb Tuna. Closer inspection, photographs, phone calls and emails to David showed they were a Great Barracuda ( we thought the teeth looked large and sharp) and a Jack, neither of which you can eat in this part of the world. We consoled ourselves with a fish supper from the freezer.

On Thursday we took a taxi to Spanish Town. An incredible drive with sensational views of the Virgin Islands as the road goes "over the top" then drops down to the coast. The road gradients are extremely steep and you just have to trust that the brakes work. Indeed before we set off the taxi driver said "Do not be afraid" which, of course, was immensely reassuring!

The last couple of days we have been anchored in Diamond Cay- in-between Jost Van Dyke and Little Jost Van Dyke. Sensational wildlife. Pelicans fishing all day and flying past us almost within arms reach, frigate birds high in the sky, diving every now and again to scoop a surface morsel and, yesterday, dolphins swimming just next door to the boat- magical.

Returned to Nanny Cay this morning in quite a blow as, sadly, Jan returns to the UK tomorrow.
The plan is to clean and tidy up, then wait for a weather window to sail to Antigua. This could be several days as it is gusting up to 30 knots at the moment, about 20 more than I enjoy...........
