Been an interesting 24hrs on the Owl. With a daily run of 165 miles the Owl has taken a chunk out the initial 700 miles that lay ahead. However contrary to the promise of mythical Northerlies all this afternoon we have been beating into SW winds and rain up to 25 knots. Snuggled down with two reefs the Owl likes to beat indeed it seems that's what she has done most of the year but she doesn't always realise how beat her crew are. We are hoping that after a suitable sacrifice the weather Gods they may after all with a mere pucker of the lips blow a little puff of wind fairly from the North to speed us on our way.

Generaly life onboard is fairly settled if not a little forlorn as we toast absent friendsand remember past adventures. After 13 days at sea with a full crew and then a delivery crew the Owl needs a good deep clean and a foof but it isn't likely to happen till the Canaries when the plan is to lay her up in readiness for the ARC.

A new crisis has emerged in the form of a noisy autopilot. We can't quite put our finger on the cause other than the electric motor seems to be the source so we are crossing fingers that it lasts and doesn't lock up.

In the spotting competition a sea turtle has been spotted by the other watch which so far outstrips our meagre offering of a floating piece o silver foil and a sea bird.

Other than that alls well.
