Sunday, and ground hog day. More grey sky, grey seas and the dampness of the fog. Who would have thought that at 39 degrees South the sun would still fail to shine and the fog would be creating a bubble within which the Owl and her crew would sail in. The dankness of the evening was highlighted by Sam's culinary erotica. thoroughly savoured and enjoyed by all on board. The sun set was magnificemt and the crew hoped for a wonderful sunset and rise the following day. It was not to be.

We are under thick cloud cover but at least we can now see a horizon. 88 miles still to go and the wind, what little of it there is, come from the South. Hey Ho press on and carve a few sailors boxes, bottle a few ships and watch the antics of the ever present almost magical, comical and incredibly dextrous Dolphins. We also liaised with a 30ft fin whale today but the Owl decided that the whale was a little too large and a little to friendly for comfort and thus we skidadled away.

A significant breakthrough occurred today. The fog lifted and the Owl can now see further than a cricket pitch!

There is a touch of sadness on board as one of the crew is having to leave us in Cascais to go back to work in England. Time, and the NHS wait for no man! Farewell Dawn and thank you for sailing with us the Owl already misses your sparkly caring nature and considerable sailing skills. The Owl is looking foward to welcoming Keith on board for the 750 mile slog to the Canary Islands. With a little under 80 miles to go to our destination in Portugal the crew are smelling land and the bounties it brings with it.

Time for a sundowner as Dire Straits blare out from the stereo, and a meal of porcini pasta delight awaits the hungry crew
