Moondog

Yesterday’s original forecast was partially delivered today, with some strong winds in the afternoon. But this was an easy trip, down through a few locks and bridges to the basin at the end of the Canal at the wonderfully named Clachnaharry sea lock, where the canal exits into the Beauly Firth.

We arrived at the sea lock early and had a few hours to wait until high tide and the start of the ebb, which would make our very short passage to Inverness Marina easy and comfortable, with wind and tide together. Plenty of time for lunch and brews on board. Then a few minutes bouncing around in the Firth and in no time we were arriving at Inverness Marina, and quickly tied up at the fuel berth, filled up, and then moored up at a pontoon for the night.

Inverness Marina is a very friendly place, and the team there remembered Moondog from the past, and looked after us very well.

Dick left us here, and we had a farewell dinner in a local music bar, after Dick had checked into his hotel ( after he learnt that Bez and I would be leaving around 0600 the following day). We finally left Dick sitting very comfortably in the bar, with a good range of beers and traditional music....and he was also threatening to stay up all night watching the election results. We made our way back to the boat and ignored the election.Yesterday’s original forecast was partially delivered today, with some strong winds in the afternoon. Bogdan considering standing for the SNP to ensure equal opportunities for Meerkats, and to press for the heat to be turned up.
