Motoring across Europe
Dave Pratt and Nick Pochin
Wed 17 Apr 2013 18:18
Position 48:57.395N 02:52.891E Meux.
Bernard is rejoining us for the day and our first job was to go to the
marina office to get the correct Vignette for the rivers and canals. The
one Dave had bought was for horses and rowing boats. Ok it was for a year
but I don't think they would be happy as we arrived at 12knots at the next
lock! Now we have purchased the correct one for 1month and it only cost
104 euros.
We exited the lock and turned left onto the Seine. 4miles up the river we
turned left at the Chinese restaurant and were in the river Marne.Five
miles on we entered the Saint Maur Tunnel and into the Canal saint Maur
And back into the Marne. Next into the canal de Chelles. Back into the
Marne and then into the Canal de Meux a Chalifort finally to Meaux where
we would spend the night in the town quay. Ate on board and Bernard caught
the train back .
Julie's notes----
Woke to amazing blue skies this morning, walked to the nearest bread shop
bought fresh croissants'back to the boat radio 4 was in heaven. Going
through the locks is an experience , Dads army has nothing on us lot ,
Dave is mr Mannering, but we manage ! Tomorrow is another day and now
Bernard has left us we rely on Nick's franglaise! Probably end up back in
Paris!
Forgot to mention we found a relatively new slot machine fuel pump so took
the opportunity to fill everything including the kitchen sink! Like old
men you never miss the opportunity !
Tomorrow we head for EPernay and the Champagne area. Wonder if a Volvo D4
will run on that!
