With my first crew member, Willi V-S, focused on his iPhone, we left Kinsale Yacht Club Marina this morning after a thoroughly well hosted evening at the Kinsale Yacht Club yesterday evening. Our supper there was delicious.

It was a surprise to see one of the war requisitioned 100m2 wooden yachts taken from the Germans in 1944, some of which went to the British Kiel Yacht Club. This one was Overlord, which I had last seen in Oban during my circumnavigation of UK.

I also met a former Army colleague, who had sailed his Rustler 36 single handed from the Scillies to Kinsale in 24 hours over 155 nms - quite a feat. Well done Bob Hendicott.

With wind on the nose, yet again (SW backing W), we set off with little wind, aiming to tack our way towards Glandore. The wind got up to F4/5, with uncomfortable seas. Thus, at about 1700, we decided to find an anchorage in calm waters some 8 nms east of Glandore in Dirk Bay, just shy of Galley Head.
