After too many days at Kilmore Quay waiting for the low pressure window to pass through, the winds abated today and I escaped at 5 a.m to complete a long 81 nm passage to Crosshaven. The wind was not as forecast, being yet again on the nose, so I had to motor for 14 ½ hours through moderate and quite lumpy seas to reach somewhere to berth next to the Royal Cork Yacht Club. With Cork week about to start the Club was unable to offer me a berth.

Sue, having arrived a couple of days ago, did her own thing, visiting a country house and making the most of the day to allow me to make the sea journey, which helped her as she flies back from Cork in 2 days time. So we will have 2 days together exploring a bit of the South West in the hire car.

Willi V-S is due to join me on the evening of 1 July for 10 days sailing around the south coast and, hopefully, to Dingle. It will make a change from single handing. The good news is that better weather is forecast for the next week or so.
