After a couple of days with Sue, driving round the South West of Ireland, which was a wonderful break, I set sail with my first crew member since I left Poole on 10 Jun: Willi Verdon-Smith. The weather forecast was supposed to improve, but the wind was stronger than expected (F5 and 6 for most of the trip). With the wind on the nose we tacked for much of the day, enjoying a broad reach as we sailed up the River Bandon to Kinsale and its Yacht Club Marina. Magnificent forts on either side of the river eyed us as we made our way to our destination.
