Left the Royal Motor Yacht Club, Sandbanks at 0515 into 2 hours of foul tide followed by 6 hours of following tide. 2 reefs to start, but shook them out after an hour.
With SW wind, tacking was the order of the day, especially to avoid the Lulworth ranges, which were in operation from 0930.
The wind picked up to about 16 knots, which gave me 6.9 knots of speed across the ground towards the end of the passage. On arrival the sun came out to complete the pleasurable start to my circumnavigation of Ireland.
