Each day we make a series of entries in the log book, noting any significant radio activity, engine and generator hours, water made using the water maker and at noon and midnight we note our position, wind direction and speed, distance for the day, cumulative total and average speed. The entries started out very formal and in the last few days as we have got agonising close to the finish Leanne has been keeping us entertained with the ‘from’ and ‘to’ headings going from ‘Las Palmas’ and ‘St Lucia’ to more creative forms. Some of my favourites are: ‘Sand Dunes and Tapas’ to ‘Pitons and Rum’, ‘Spanish Siestas’ to ‘Island Time’, ‘Flamenco Dancing’ to ‘Steel Drums’ and ‘Warm Days and Cool Nights’ to ‘Hot! Hot! Hot!’. It’s the little things at this point.
