Fizz, day 19, 14-12-2007.
Hi again, probably the last posting from sea, its
13.25 UT and we have approx 100 miles to landfall, must say its a nice feeling
after 19 days.
Its great to finish on a good point of sailing,
last night we had a reefed main and a partiallly furled headsail poled out for
the night, the breeze was up and I wanted to make the most of it.
There is a new moon 2/3 days old and it provided
some nice light for a while after sunset, we were surfing down the swells,
touched 10.5 kn at one stage, so the sailing was pretty good. Needless to say
there were the usual squalls at which times the genoa was furled. We doubled up on watches last night to ensure there was always
somebody capable of steering.
The sun is up again and its quite warm, Chris and
Kevin are asleep, Tim is driving and I'm typing. Its nearly time to put a few
extra beers in the fridge to be properly prepared for landfall. The finish line
is close to the north of the island and unfortunately (in one sense) it looks
like we will arrive in darkness.
Just a quick thank you to all who have shared the
trip with us and also to those who have sent emails. Once we get sorted in
Rodney Bay I will try to send some photo's to give you a feel for life on board
Fizz over the last 3 weeks.
Will be in touch,
Bye
PS best wishes to Neil & Mariah in France -
hope the exams go well.
