Have been a bit busy for a few hours this afternoon. Looked at the leech of the genoa earlier to discover the sacrificial UV protection was doing its job and had been partially sacrificed to the atlantic gods. Thankfully we saw it in time and spent ~ 2.5h repairing it with Dessie's finest kevlar sticky back, also required a bit of stitching.

We're on our way further S at the moment trying to avoid an area of lighter winds scheduled for Monday.

All well on board and currently at 22:07N 30:09W travelling at 8.2 kn, COG 225M.

saw a few flying fish today and a tropic bird.

Guitar recital just finished in cockpit.

We are at the stage of sifting through our soft  fruit &  veg: eihter cooking what can be rescued or throwing out what can't. Yes - Paul and Anita were rigth we had way too much. We have all of our fresh food hanging in nets in the cabin. Unfortuantely the swinging of the boat combined with the sheer weight tends to cause damage. Pasta for lunch today, Boiling it in sea water was not a good idea. The addition of tabasco sauce helped rescue it a bit. We had desert to compensate ;)

We have had a waning moon since we started. On cloudless nights it has been really bright - like car headlights behind us. Unfortunately it is nearly gone. The stars are pretty amazing still - they really stand out due to the absence of light polution. Orion has become a personal favourite.

Yesterday evening we heard a call form an ARC yacht on the VHF. Their keel was loose (scary) and they were diverting to to Cape Verde for maintenance. A bunch of boats joined in providing sat phone numbers for support.

Last night was tiring. Big wind direction changes and contrary waves made for a bit of work to keep the boat on track. Running goosewinged in excess of 8 kts at times made for a buzz but to day we are all knackered. A brief squall in the middle of it all only added to the fatigue.
