This morning I noticed I could see the rope in my furlex Jib reefing gear, it should be inside and all out of sight.  Inspection showed that the storm must have torn the top covers off, not good, the covers keep the rope tidy on the drum.

I should explain; there is a rope drum on the forestay to which the foresail/jib is attached. when you pull on the the rope the forestay rotates and winds the jib around it thereby reducing the sail area.  very important in rough conditions.

The problem is if I get a tangle at the the wrong time!!!! I've tried to fix it fingers crossed it will get me to Newport.

Time

Ships time is now GMT minus 4 hours, so my noon GMT fix is now 8 oclock in the morning here.  I never got an answer from Tony about how the Navy delt with the change of hour and their watch system.  After all one hour is half a dog watch?

Caught up now,
