More news from The Good Ship ET!

Another warm sunny day yesterday, running on a broad reach, wind not very strong but still covered 136 miles! We had already done 138, 144 and 164 miles on the previous 3 days with "not a bother on us!!"

However things are a tad different today, the wind has dropped and we are dawdling(nautical term) along at 2/3 knots. The new predition for our arrival at Tusker Rock at this speed is 179 hours!! Hopefully things will change and we'll get some wind! We have the cruising shoot up and a full main.....no reefs! No chance for James and I to hone our skills. This is the first day we've had no sunshine....sigh!

James has decided to go fishing, in the hope of landing a basking shark. As he's using a mackrel spinner I don't much rate his chances!! He's doing a spot of chumming(fishing term) with some potatoe and carrot peelings so you never know.

We've spent the day making the ship ship shape and are now super tidy and organised. On the plus side, we realise we have enough Uncle Bens rice to feed an army, plenty of biscuits and tinned food and more weetabix than could be eaten in 6 months!! Unfortunately the water situation is not great as we've used 3/4 tank, we may have to start on the rum!! Though we do have a few bottles in reserve... water not rum!!

We had an eventful night, when we encountered a fleet of fishing boats and had to negotiate our way between them. There were 8 of them but only 5 showed up on our AIS(real nauticl term!) Good job James has great eye sight, he spent the small hours on deck as official watch boy! At one point, one came straight for us, James spotted it by the phosphorescent on it's bow wave. We shone a torch up at the sails and he bore away. After that excitement we all went to bed and slept in this morning!!

It looks like another quiet day tomorrow but after that hopefully we should get a bit more frisky(horsey term!)

Our evenings continue to be highly entertaining, Alex Ryder, the teenage James Bond, keeps us on our toes, guessing how he's going to get out of his latest dare devil pranks!! He appears to be an expert skate boarder, surfer, diver, snow boarder, linguist and black belt karate fighter and all at 14 years old. I tell you, James is going to have to go some in the next 5 months if he wants the same career options! Especially as fishing doesn't seem to be his path in life!!

Dad has just informed me, with these light winds we may have a busy night! As we get nearer the continental shelf, we see more fishing boats, one is baring down on us right now. Let's hope he's more successful than James!!

Take care
Sarah/ mummy, Poppa/Dad/Roger, James

PS Finished my next book and the murderer wasn't the head of Globescope after all, but the innocent looking old lady from Swindon!!
