23:30 Sunday 30th May 2010

We had another satphone conversation with Roger, from his bunk, this evening at 19:00.

He is still not feeling well and for the last couple of days has been taking a course of anti-biotics, as yet without any noticeable improvement.  He is managing to eat, drink and rest so we hope that the drugs will have an impact soon.

The weather over the last couple of days has been “lively” with strong winds and big seas.  As we were speaking it was still a strong Force 5 with a sizeable swell.  He has been making good progress but has now reduced his sail quite considerably and is running at about three quarters ‘efficiency’.

He was interested to know how many of the fleet were at his latitude and whether any or many were further south.  It is his intention now to head south for a day or two, this will take him further from the centre of the current low pressure system – and further away from the next system which is heading in.  He is also hopeful that it will take him into slightly warmer climes.

More news as we get it.
