                | So we leave the so called ‘Renaissance Islands’ of Anguilla, St Martin/Sint
Maarten and St Bart’s and with the winds coming from Easterly we sail hard on
the wind passing the ‘Islands that Touch the Clouds’, Saba, Statia, St Kitts,
Nevis and Monserrat on our starboard and leave the ‘Mountains and Mangrove’
islands of Guadeloupe and Dominica to our port as we move from the Leeward
Islands into the Windward Islands.  Two Hundred and Forty miles in twenty
four hours and we reach the anchorage of Anse d’Arlet, Martinique, on Saturday
24th May!  Tired but happy, mainly sailed with one reef in the main and
genoa, with a couple of engine bursts as we lost all wind for a short time in
the lee of Guadeloupe and then Dominica. |
