Morning had broken over the Java Sea and as the sun
rose we only had a few more nautical miles to run before arriving in Bali.
We had made good time crossing from Darwin to Indonesia and the wind and weather
had been kind to us. To keep us on our toes however we had one last challenge. A
stong rip tide had to be negotiated while the two opposing tides clashed with
each other. This created an effect not unlike rapidly boiling water in a pot.
Very choppy and strange in contrast to a relatively flat sea all morning with
nothing more than deep ocean swell.
We also slowed to allow a big cargo ship to pass in
front of us in the shipping lane. Don't want to take on those
things.
Coming in to the Bali Marina in Benoa harbour
was quite hectic with a myriad of ships, boats, fishing vessels
and leisure craft both large and small. Very different to what we've been
used to in Australian waters. Has a real vibey feel to it. There is an element
of third world too. Exciting.
And even a party boat which came in with music
pumping from the sound system on board. After it docked at the jetty next
to our marina literally hundreds of people got off. We have named it The
Yellow Submarine.
Well now that we are safe and sound in Bali,
Don, Ted, Tom and I will take two weeks off before we setting sail on
the next leg. The ladies are joining us in Bali and then
Lombok for a holiday and Toms girlfriend Sara arrives on Wednesday. So
it's cheers for now until the 15th. Follow us on http://my.yb.tl/shayamoya after that
and of course on this blog as we continue to post
entries. Bye.
