Subject: 18:23.872N 064:38.155W Nanny Cay Marina Got to Nanny Cay Marina this morning. It's a very
nice marina compared to some of the dives we've been to. We had a very
interesting lunch on the beach watching the local church baptizing their
younglings in the ocean in front of the Resort. I couldn't help wondering if it
wasn't also a PR event. It was nevertheless quite fun to watch and the singing
wasn't to bad either.
I'll have the Cheeseburger, 2 beers and some gospel
please with a side order of saltwater dunked teens...What? that's all on
special today? Bargain!
Instead of sailing around the island for hours we
took a twenty minute cab ride to Cane Garden
Bay. It was supposed to be the hot spot, trendy town, the party capital... not on a Saturday!? Eat - Bed
Sunday 10th April:
We arrived in Culebra (I think it's called), this
morning. It's one of the Spanish Virgin Islands that actually belongs to Puerto
Rico which actually is America. Confused? As we motored into the little bay past
all the yachts that had obviously been there a while, I read in the guide book
about the whacky misfits that lived on the island and spent their nights in a
bar called The Dinghy Dock. So off to The Dinghy Dock! I found it quite normal
actually. It had a barman (slightly heavy) who stood behind the bar and served
guests (slightly salty) beer (great beer). You should have seen his face when D
ordered a glass of white wine. He had some somewhere at moved off shocked to
look for it. Returning from the restaurant, the slighlty heavy barman looked
very happy with himself for finding wine.
So because he'd found the wine we stayed at the
Dinghy Dock for dinner and found the only thing really whacky about the place
was the food.
