Are we nearly there yet?
Sunday March 23rd , 2014 St Lucia , 13.58.0N 61 01.6W Today's Blog by David (Time zone: UTC – 4.0) Prizes for guessing where we are: If you correctly identified the picture and assume we were in Soufriere (they are St Lucia’s Pitons) you would be wrong, because that is where we were yesterday - Soufriere: A bit like the Cape Verdes – security is a real issue – but this time there are tourists too. “Malcolm” was the name of the boat boy who managed to leave us with £125 of our money secured for “services rendered”. Those services included the mooring, taxi to and from customs and a two hour taxi tour of the local highlights but importantly security of the boat. It was his own mooring (he said) and was overlooked from his home’s balcony. Whether he did anything for his money we don’t know, but the boat was unmolested. Sadly he didn’t mention that - being so close inshore – we were in prime position to listen to the Karaoke about 100 yards away that went on until 2.30 am. Hmmm. Progress We are making tolerable progress towards crossing our wake. 7 miles further north today - we are now in Marigot Bay. We will tie the knot, as it were, about lunch time tomorrow, en passage to Rodney Bay. Four miles to go – the champagne is on ice. |
