Mid-Atlantic Special Edition
Saturday Nov 12th On passage to Barbados 13 42.67N 43 03.58W Supplementary blog by William Well, there were no cheering crowds to greet us but we marked two landmark events just before lunchtime today as first we reached the half-way point in our 2,033 mile journey, followed shortly afterwards by the even more symbolic transition to less than 1,000 miles to go. Needless to say, the crew were feeling quite pleased with life at this point, a situation only improved by David’s continuing experiments in on-board bread making which resulted (gas oven baked followed by toasting for those following the technical aspects of this story) in extremely palatable bread to go with our cheese and cold meat (and zero risk today of any broken teeth!). And so on we go. 1,000 miles is still 1,000 miles and the celebrations were short-lived as we slipped back into our daily routine of changing watches, sun-sights, maintenance and meals. The only question is which way? Might there be a possibility that the crew are not all of one mind on this point…..???? |
