We are still in the San Blas - we had thought to leave in the last couple of days to head to civilisation to get our immigration papers etc sorted. But after a few days of lots of discussions we have decided to leave it another week or so. Apparently many cruisers come via the San Blas without checking in for more than a month at a time so we are not too worried. We did try and check in at one of the islands that supposedly offered it, but with no luck - the next place is a day or so sail away in rough conditions - much worse to have to come back again - so we have decided to stay and enjoy this place for a bit longer before we head along to coast to Colon for jobs on the boat and canal plans....
So we are anchored up in yet another stunningly beautiful spot - with quite a few boats this time. We are at the Chichime islands on the western end of the San Blas. The most exciting thing about this place is ....THERE IS GOOD SURF HERE!! So we have been surfing every day since we got here. Its a bit big for me so I have been a bit nervous but Nick is having an absolute ball. The snorkelling around the surf reef is incredible - the best we have seen- so when we get tired surfing we head in for a snorkel. The other day we spotted 3 lion fish (which are invasive here and very destructive to the reef - and delicous) which we took in turns to shoot them and had fish burgers for dinner - with home made bread and chips.
There is also a massive wreck here of the San Blas Ferry (150ft) - its high and dry up on the reef and makes an impressive back drop. There are also a number of other wrecks around - we had fun exploring them yesterday. So we think we will have another day here and then head to some other islands - enjoy our last week in this incredible place. Then head off to civilisation. We are purely vegitarian (+fish) at the moment and I cant tell you how much I wish I could be emailed a cheeseburger haha.
