                | Position 17:05S 159:03W The wind has been pretty light and we decided to
put the engine on yesterday afternoon. At 5.30 this morning there was enough wind to sail
and it has picked up since then and we have been doing 7-8 kts at times which is
more like it. Forecast says that wind is due to get stronger and
on the beam (Southerly) and big swells on the beam also. We have poured all the diesel from the containers
on deck into the tank so both tanks are pretty full now.   We are expecting uncomfortable rolling motion but
the wind and swell is nothing like what we had in the atlantic, but coming on
the beam will make it a bit rolly..   - well, we have
had a few nights of good sleep so we should be OK. We are now heading direct for Niue as we have
really run out of time to visit Aitutaki but it is a bit late now and also with
the winds it is not a good idea to anchor there.  we will just need
to visit some time in future.... We hope to get to Niue about Monday which is monday
night/Tuesday morning UK time.. All is well on board - we are enjoying the
sunshine... |
