                | Position 5:30:36N 080:22:77 W We left Isle Viveros yesterday morning about
7am. the day before we went for a walk on the
island.  We found that it has an airstrip and a golf course under
construction.  Well another deserted island bites the dust. The beach was muddy and full of human rubbish which
had washed up from the sea for example plastic drinks bottles so none of us
fancied a swim. The day before we tested our watermaker and found
that there is a problem.  Tony from BWR will bring some spares out to
Galapagos and we hope that it solves the problem. Aqaluna, another yacht on the Rally was kind enough
to fill 8 of our 5 litre bottles of water so we now have plenty to get us to
Galapagos. Last night was a first night at sea for a while so
noone got much sleep.  I was on the midnight to 4am watch.  The sky
was full of stars and full moon so very pretty but seas were confused and we
wondered if we would get a wave breaking over the back of the boat, but we did
not. We left a day or so after a lot of the yachts but
we are within VHF range of two others and it is nice to know other people nearby
and have a chat. We have winds between 12-16 kts and are sailing
under reefed main and Jib.  With a bit of luck we may be in Galapagos in
4-5 days.. Dolphins followed us for a while yesterday.
they are lovely animals. |
