We have now spent 2 days in Le Marin,
Martinique. Yesterday we went to a 'boat jumble' in the marina and
bought a couple of DVD's. They are not so good but will give us
something we can use to trade for something else.
We are happy that our anchor is holding OK, but one
of our neighbours came over in their dingy to tell us that a boat had dropped an
anchor in front of us, it did not hold and they drifted back onto our boat with
their Davids going onto our bows. We checked and there is no obvious
damage, but this sort of thing is worrying as our anchor might have come loose
when something like this happens and our boat could have drifted backwards onto
something else or grounded as it is very shallow not too far behind and indeed
there is still a yacht there from when hurricance Dean struck in August
2007.
This is a
picture of the view from our yacht on the anchorage in Le Marin.
In the
distance you can see the yachts in the marina and to the left is the yacht
club (dingy hobie cats mainly).
It is quite
windy here.
The white building (looks like a warehouse)
on the waterfront is our nearest supermarket..
The rusti looking orange object is a
sort of floating dock where maintenance can be done on boats.
This is a floating dry dock which is used for
yacht maintenance.
You can see behind it on the left a yacht
(still with it's mast) which grounded in the Hurricane
Dean
