Yesterday
was a bit disappointing after the glorious day we had the day
before.
The
following seas were coming from two directions which meant that the boat was
rolling from side to side and we did not think it would be a good idea to fly
the parasailor or the cruising chute as there would be a risk of
collapse.
We have
had more problems with the spinnaker pole where it joins the mast. We
think the design of these is great for weekend use but not so good for use day
after day or week after week. We are running with some temporary fixes but
will certainly look into this more in the Caribbean.
Must say I
ache a bit especially in hands feet and elbows after constantly stopping myself
falling over and cooking dinner last night was quite an art.
Last night
I was on midnight to 3am watch and found it very difficult to stay awake and
needed to listen to some CD´s in order to stay awake. We are now getting
to warmer climates and it is fine to wear shorts and T shirts even on night
watch.
Today is a
much better day and we are planning to set up the cruising chute without a pole
as we are not quite running 100% down wind. We are not quite half way in
terms of miles yet but I am eagerly awaiting now when I can put the bottle of
bubbly in the fridge in order to celebrate half way but this should happen some
time in the next couple of days hopefully.
We have
heard on the weatherforecast that further west is no wind, we just hope this
will have changed when we get there.
As we have
a watermaker on board we allow ourselves to have a shower every other day as
long as it continues to work. We top up our tanks every day. It was
my turn last night and it was wonderful but it is quite an art when the boat is
going all over the place. We know that in the scheme of things the rolling
for us is not too bad, smaller lighter yachts would be much worse..
Can't
remember if I mentioned this before, but we put our/ships clocks back an hour
day before yesterday but as far as communications are concerned we stick to
UTC.
