Well what a day yesterday and what a
night.
This is the first time we are having to motor
directly into strong wind, rough seas and strong current.
The movement of the boat was pretty uncomfortable
and Richard found himself being seasick.
My leg is better now and Steve's cold is better but
both Richard and myself were suffering from sore throat etc.
at about 3am we got engulfed in what felt like a
monsoon.. rain lashed down - sea was coming over the decks and wind picked
up (on the nose) so we had to up the revs quite a bit on the
engine to be able to bash through the waves which
were stopping the boat. We also had 2.5 kts of current against us..
It is now 9.30 in the morning and wind and sea has
gone down a lot and Richard seems to have recovered from his
seasickness.
Steve and I were OK, I suppose we are more used to
the boat.
Unfortunately the dorado vent on the forward cabin
was pointing forwards so we have had a lot of sea water coming onto the forward
berth so some cleaning to do when we get to our destination.
We hope to be in Kumai late afternoon/early evening
and even though we probably will not make the main anchorage up the river, we
should be able to anchor further out for the night and then move
further up first thing in the
morning..
