Soundproofing on a boat is practically non-existent, totally so with all the hatches open to promote a nice cooling air-flow. Yesterday morning I woke particularly early to the sound of hoards of screeching gulls, I can only presume the fishermen were heading home with the day's catch. This morning it was a symphony of foghorns – above me there's clear blue sky through the two hatches above our bed, but it seems that's not the case off-shore.

Yesterday was a day of 'chores'; Chris's head is considerably less fluffy after a visit to the barbers and our cupboards and fridges are fully stocked thanks to a trip to the most profitable branch of Morrison's in the world. Not for long as there's the inevitable branch of Tesco due to be opened soon.

Apart from half a jigsaw and a couple of crosswords we didn't achieve much else due to the heat – that's not a complaint by the way. In the evening we headed out to Ocean Village to meet up with Robin, a guy I worked with many years ago who lives out here. You can't beat a good catch up over an ice-cold beer. We're not leaving today – we're still waiting for a parcel to arrive and we found the most amazing restaurant last night that we just have to visit.  But we love it here so what's the rush?!
