- Lagos Marina (still)
We've heard Lagos referred to as Port Velcro and we're really
hoping that's not the case for us - the marina fees are extortionate for
one! Chris and I were a bit down in the dumps over the weekend,
partly due to a lack of response to our requests for crew to the
Canaries. I escaped from my glumness by throwing myself into yet
another Harlen Coban book and Chris by cleaning the oven.
We thought we'd managed to escape Christmas here, but
it's finally caught up with us as someone has decorated their yacht with loads
of lights, a tree and a Father Christmas, superlatively tacky! We decided
to sign up for the Christmas dinner here in the marina - mainly to network with
Brits to help find crew.
Yesterday things were much better; we've decided on a routine
of breakfast, chores, lunch on board or out and then a walk or cycle ride.
We got carried away with the chores - rearranging all the food and dishes in the
saloon cupboards and it was good to feel as though we'd achieved
something. With bright sunshine and a temperature of 17 degrees we enjoyed
lunch in the cockpit - what a difference a bit of sun makes. We
couldn't leave the boat as we were expecting the electricians to come
to fix the bow thruster (they didn't) so we sunbathed on the beanbags on
deck helping each other with a giant crossword.
Happy Hour at Seafaris was indeed happy as we logged onto
their WiFi to discover 4 people interested in crewing so we've contacted them
and are keeping our fingers crossed. There's a nasty low due on Thursday
but things look good to go after that. The weather's pretty glorious again
today and Chris is threatening to change into his shorts. I'd put mine on
but Chris said last time he saw legs like that they were hanging out of a
nest. That reminds me, next time we're at sea, I could do with practising
my man overboard recovery... |
