Wind picked up this morning and sea state increased to give
us a much needed push that we havent had for what seems like weeks. Conditions were
coming from a more southerly direction, pushing us a few minutes north but we
were able to bob along at over 2kts for most the day. Beginning to calm now and
boat speed slowing again. Had a few chats with Rob and Stu on Ocean Summit who
are currently a few miles ahead of us and will prob give them a call tonight.
They creeped past us over night by following the conditions which we
tried to use initially to take a more direct route. Probably should altered
course a bit earlier and folllowed them, these decisions are very easy in the
light of day, not so after a few hours sleep! Been for a dip again and to check
the hull and decided to see how waterproof our waterpoof camera is! The large
fish (Dorada?) that have followed us for hundreds of miles were close by so got
a few minutes footage of them. Another bat-like frigate bird appeared early
this eve, tried to catch some flying fish, then vanished. Speaking of flying
fish, saw quite a flock of them yesterday, all taking flight and scattering in
all directions. We also found a smalll flying fish in the cabin! No idea how it
got in there but it was the last decision it made! |
