However they have been stuck in hard seas having to cope with side winds and trying to row against the current battling hard to progress south . This change in direction is to avoid the forthcoming storm which is due to hit Sunday . If they are too far north they will be caught up in strong winds and unable to row until the winds have passed.
Luckily in the past hour there has been a temporary wind change in a favourable direction. This has helped them immensely . They have been able to make speeds of 3 knots/ hour. As Sean said " It's no longer like trying to be a bank robber in a steam roller!". Hopefully, if the favourable winds keep up all night, they will be far enough south to avoid the unfavourable winds on Sunday.
