Hi all,
We’ve sorted our issues with the boat and are now trying to make progress
in non ideal conditions. to go straight ahead it’s rudder full left. This
effectively means that we are dragging that friction. Hard hard work. All those
leg sessions over the last year paying off.
Unlike many of the better financed teams we do not have a weather router or
an auto helm. Actually there’s only one other boat in the whole race who has no
auto helm. For those who don’t know an auto helm steers the boat to the
programmed destination for you. A weather router plans for conditions to choose
the absolute optimal route. We don’t have either because money. However I would
kill right about now for a detailed weather map of the section of the Atlantic
that we are in for the next week which covers wind and currents. If anybody
wanted to send me a few screen grabs to my Email menofiron {CHANGE TO AT} mailasail {DOT} com that wouldn’t
be horrendous.
![]() As small an amount of pic’s as possible if you do because it takes forever
to download data when using a Satellite phone as a modem. We’ve now settled in
for night shift. food made, drinks ready. sleep, row, wash, eat and repeat.
thanks for the emails of support. they mean so much when you’ve no human
contact.
cheers
Sean and Andy.
